Review

(I decided to post my review here, on this fantabulous blog, just for fun.)

  • Emma, by Jane Austen
  • 421 Kindle pages
  • (fictional) Romantic comedy
  • Emma is a romantic comedy about Emma Woodhouse, a 21 year old who thinks she's good at matchmaking. The novel follows her adventures as she tries repeatedly (and most often fails) to put people together.
  • Pride, love, friendship, and decorum are prevalent themes throughout the book.
  • I would give this book 4.85 stars out of 5. Austen did a wonderful job of setting the scene, developing her characters, and keeping the plot moving, but at times (especially if you already know what's going to happen), it seems to drag on forever (this really only happens towards the end: See Vol III: Chps 11-19 post). I really enjoyed how Austen helped Emma's character to grow through mistakes that eventually led to her humility and sincerity at the end of the book. I would definitely recommend this book for a lit blog project, mostly because I think more people need to read Jane Austen. It also gives the reader a glimpse into Victorian Era England, a topic that is not often discussed at this level. If you are contemplating reading this book for a project, make sure you are comfortable with the schedule. I did it in 6 weeks, and on busier weeks, the load was difficult.

I hope you read and enjoy the book!
